The Genuine Orthodox Church of Greece

"Stand fast, and hold the traditions ye have been given."

2 Thessalonians 2:15

Appearance of the Holy Cross | Old Calendar Greek Church

Miraculous appearance of the Holy Cross in the heavens over Mount Hymettus, near Athens, on the Eve of the Exaltation of the Cross (Julian Calendar) in 1925.

The Genuine Orthodox Church of Greece is a canonical Church following the original calendar (Julian Calendar), traditions, and practices of Orthodox Christianity.

It remained on the Royal Path of True Orthodoxy after the innovation of the adopting of the civil calendar (Gregorian calendar) by the Greek Orthodox Church in 1923, which resulted in the persecution of the faithful who did not accept this change. The Genuine Orthodox Church of Greece strives to hold fast to the tenets of Traditional Orthodoxy, seeking to maintain Christ's Church in Her fullness, while rejecting and resisting  Ecumenism.

The ordinations of our hierarchs outside of Greece were performed by the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCOR) in the 1960s, of whom Archbishop Seraphim of Chicago was the first to be ordained.

The First Hierarch of the Genuine Orthodox Church of Greece is His Beatitude Kallinikos, Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, and the Australian diocese is under the guidance and protection of His Eminence Photios, Metropolitan of Demetrias.

We are in communion with several Traditional Orthodox jurisdictions, including with our Sister Church in Bulgaria under Metropolitan Photios, also on the Julian Calendar, and the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad under Metropolitan Agafangel.

As with questions on any topic, please do not hesitate to ask Fr. Theophilos any questions you may have on this matter.

Traditional Orthodoxy | Apostles

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. [...] A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. [...] Therefore, by their fruits you will know them." Matt 7:15-20
